Sifu Rick Frye, on 9-26-2004 has been accepted as a Disciple (Indoor Student) of Master Kwok and is Certified by Master Kwok as an Instructor in the Samuel Kwok International Martial Arts Association. Sifu Rick is also a Certified Instructor with the Ving Tsun Athletic Association of Hong Kong.

Sifu Rick has taught classes at Yavapai College in both Wing Chun Kung Fu and Women's Self-Defense. He has put on several seminars in Wing Chun and Self-Defense for Yavapai Big Brothers and Big Sisters, K-Mart, Yavapai Regional Medical Center, Humboldt Unified School District, Chino Valley School District, Chino Valley Library and has worked with the Prescott Valley Police Department.

Sifu began his life long love of the Martial Arts at the age of twelve in Mesa, Arizona after watching Bruce Lee movies. He enlisted in the Army at 17,completed basic training, then went on to special forces training in the 82nd Airborne division. After the Army, Rick returned to Arizona, worked in his father's camera shop and continued his study in Martial Arts. He moved his family to Prescott Valley, Arizona and opened the Self Defense Academy in 1996.

Sifu Rick Frye is trained in the art of Wing Chun Kung Fu, Preying Mantis, Choy Lay Fut, American Kenpo Karate, and many weapons. He received his Black Sash in 1986 from Grand Master Terry Lee Wright. Sifu Rick trained under Sifu Bryan Talbot for an additional 9 years along with Master Sifu Ron Heimberger (President of the Wing Chun Kung Fu Council) and in August 2000 he achieved the level of Sifu.
